Samsung Gear S2 is the first device that uses eSIM
In the past, there were few wearables that you could actually use a real SIM card with them, but it was not very useful. So that, a new SIM card technology is coming to the smartwatches, wearables, and Internet of Things. And, the Samsung Gear 2 Classic 3G is the first device that supports the eSIM.
This technology is called “eSIM” which is a built-in SIM that allows you to connect to any carrier. eSIM does not require any subscription so that you can use with your main contract. Right now, it is intended to be in secondary devices such us wearables, tablets, Internet of Things, but GSMA is planning to bring this technology to smartphones in June.
