Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge – Review
Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge were really good. S6 was the first Samsung phone that came with an elegant body. Unlike previous years’ Samsung phones, S6 did not use cheap plastic body instead it used metal and glass. As I said earlier, they were good, but there were few things that didn’t make us happy such as the small ( I mean, really small ) battery or the lack of MicroSD. This year’s S7 is not very different from last year’s S6, but it has the features that S6 lacked.
If you look at the S7, it is almost identical with S6, but it has back curves which make it easier to hold it. However, back curves also make it thicker than the S6. Nonetheless, it is just great and easy to hold it. Similarly to the S6, it is one of the best looking phones in the market, but better. I mean it does not have the camera hump that we have seen on S6.
S7 Edge is different than the S6 Edge because it is bigger, and yet it is even beautiful with back curves.
Well, it is fast. It is just fast. As we have seen in the previous Galaxy S Series, there are two variants; one with Qualcomm SnapDragon and one with Exynos. In this case, it comes with either SnapDragon 820 or Exynos 8890.Both of them are really fast. There are no lags.
In the matter of RAM, it has the same RAM capacity with all other flagship phones that were introduced in 2016 or with the ones that will be introduced this year. That means it has 4GB of RAM. Well, we have lived with the flagship phone that used to have 2 GB RAM or even 1 GB, but still TouchWiz uses more RAM than you expect.
If you think that megapixel is the only matter that affects the image quality, then you might think it will shot worse photos than the previous year’s S6. However, higher megapixel does not mean better photos. It comes with 12 MP camera, but it is really good since it has a brighter f/1.7 camera. Also, there is a new sensor which comes with new technology that Samsung calls “Dual Pixels”. It improves the quality of the photos, and allows you to take images faster than ever.
As a result, it is just a beast in camera. However, it shares one weak point with nearly all other phones. Still, you should not expect excellent photos in low light. It has a better low light performance then ever, but still it is not great.
It is the element that separates S7 and S7 Edge. This year, regular S7 is smaller than the edge version since it has a 5.1 inch display while the edge comes with 5.5 inch display.
Their screen is just great. There is nothing to complain about the screen. They have Super AMOLED QHD displays, and you will be amazed by the screen.
Do you remember the last year’s Galaxy S6? It comes with a super small battery with the capacity of only 2500 mAh battery. If you didn’t like the battery on S6, then you will love the battery of S7, especially of the S7 Edge. While S7 comes with 3.000 mAh battery , its brother has a massive 3.600 mAh battery.
Well, they have a bigger battery, but still, you cannot use the phone for a couple of days. We can make the batteries bigger, or even develop special programs to increase the battery life, but that is not enough. We need to find a better technology than Lithium.
Anyway, it supports fast charging even with wireless charging. The disappointment is that it does not support Qualcomm’s quick charge 3. You cannot even find this feature on SP 820 S7.
You may remember that S5 was waterproof, but S6 was not. However, if you miss that feature, then it is here with S7, and it is even better than S5. You can ask how is it better? And, the answer is there is not cover on the charging port. The cover on the ports is just annoying. ( You know what I am saying if you ever use the Sony Xperia Z ). It has IP 68 certificate which means you can use the phone under water for 30 minutes. However, that does not mean you can use your phone in the deepest point of the ocean. You can only use the phone up to 1.5 meters.
If you like the S6, then you will like the S7 since it is not very different. So you can say S7 is the upgraded version of S6. How is it upgraded? Samsung put the features that we couldn’t find on S6 such as the lack of MicroSD or small battery.
Well, it can be said that Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are the best android phones in the market yet.
