i7-6950X Extreme Edition is Intel’s new monster

Today, Intel launched a new CPU with total of 10 cores and it is Intel’s “most powerful desktop processor”. However, there is something odd about it.

Let’s start with its name. It is called as “Intel Core i7-6750X” so it sounds as if it is the member of the skylake family but it is not. It belongs to the “Broadwell-e” family which is the improved version of the Broadwell architecture that we have seen before the Skylake.

Anyway, it features 10 cores with 20 threads. It has a base clock speed of 3.0 GHz and can speed up to 3.5 GHz. Furthermore, it features 4 channel DDR4-2400.

Here is the part that will probably make most of us unhappy. If you want to buy one, it only costs $1.723.
