BrightTitan Cast 14: Gear Fit 2, Gear Icon X and AMD RX480
Few days ago, there was a leak saying that we will see a new Thunderbolt display in WWDC which would also equip a graphic card but Apple will not introduce any hardware in WWDC.
According to the latest leak, WWDC 2016 will be about software; not hardware. Even though we knew that Apple would introduce 2016 MacBook Pro in the September event, I was actually hoping to see a new thunderbolt display but sorry, it is [again] not clear if Apple will update the Thunderbolt display or not.
After introducing Samsung Gear Fit 2, they also introduced a new Gear product named as “Gear IconX”.
Gear Icon X is basically a wireless earphone that is specifically designed for sport. Even though you can connect your phone via bluetooth and play your musics, you can also store musics in the Gear IconX itself because like the Gear Fit 2, it has a main storage of 4GB.
If you are streaming from your phone, its battery life will last for 1.5 hours. Otherwise, if you listen songs from its memory, it will last for 3.5 hours.
Unlike the Gear Fit 2, it will available in later this year.
As expected, Samsung just introduced the second generation of its Gear Fit in an event held in New York.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 has the same 1.55-inch display and uses a similar dual core processor at a clock speed of 1.0GHz to the first generation. However, it comes with optical heart-rate sensor and built-in GPS. Furthermore, in order to allow users to use their Fit 2 device during sport, it has P68 certification.
Unlike the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, it cannot stand for 20 days. Its 200mAh allows you to use Gear Fit 2 for three days in a normal use or 5 days in a stand-by mode.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 will be available on June 10 and costs $180.
There are two huge names in the graphic card industry: Nvidia and AMD. Even though AMD showed its Polaris architecture at the beginning of this year, they introduced their first AMD graphic card based on Polaris just today.
First of all, it is not a card that is desgined to compete with either GTX1070 or 1080 beacuse its main focus is to bring high-end features such as VR to low range graphic cards. Anyway, it is called as AMD Radeon RX 480 and costs only $199. However, it proves that AMD is better than Nvidia in the low-end graphic cards for few reasons.
The most amazing features of RX 480 is the fact that it is VR Ready and it comes with 4GB GDDR5 of memory even with the base $199 model. However, there will be also a 8GB model.
Furthermore, it is AMD’s first graphic card to feature 14nm FinFET processor. Also, it has 256GB/s memory bandwidth and 256-bit memory bit-rate.
Apple MacBook Pro 16 is coming and the latest leak shows its body.
As you can see, it has the standard MacBook Pro keyboard layout but lacking the function keys. If leaks are true, then there will be a OLED touchscreen there. Also, there are some speculations that TouchID might be placed there but it is not clear.
However, the biggest shock for the people who saw this leak ( including me ) was the fact that 2016 MacBook will only come with USB Type-C and 3.5mm headphone jack similarly to the MacBook, but there are 4 Type-C ports. 2 on the right and 2 on the left.
Personally, speaking I really liked the device and I don’t care about my current MacBook Pro’s SD cart or 2 Thunderbolt slots but I will miss the HDMI port.
Intel launched a new CPU with a total of 10 cores and it is Intel’s “most powerful desktop processor”. However, there is something odd about it.
Let’s start with its name. It is called as “Intel Core i7-6750X” so it sounds as if it is the member of the skylake family but it is not. It belongs to the “Broadwell-e” family which is the improved version of the Broadwell architecture that we have seen before the Skylake.
Anyway, it features 10 cores with 20 threads. It has a base clock speed of 3.0 GHz and can speed up to 3.5 GHz. Furthermore, it features 4 channel DDR4-2400.
Here is the part that will probably make most of us unhappy. If you want to buy one, it only costs $1.723.
Asus introduced ZenBook 3, but it is not theirs. It looks exactly same with the Apple MacBook. Wait, no it isn’t because it says “Asus ZenBook” under the screen where it says “MacBook” on the Apple’s thinnest computer. Also, 3.5mm headphone jack is on the left.
It is not innovation. It is the fake Apple MacBook. I used to respect Asus, but currently, I don’t because their newest products are not good. It is sad to see Asus like this. They had great products but now they have awful products ( but still I love the Asus ROG ).
Anyway, let’s talk about the specs of “Asus MacBook”. It weighs 910 gram and has a 12.5-inch Full HD display. I think Asus has an obsession to Full HD displays because none of the devices that they introduced today had a display with something different than Full HD.
Under the hood, Intel Core i5 or i7 lies with SSD. Like the Apple MacBook, it has 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port but 3.5mm headphone jack is on the right ( and that is the only difference between Apple MacBook and Asus ZenBook in the matter of design ).
It costs $1.499 for the i5 model and $1.999 for the i7 model.
Even though I appreciated that it has intel core i rather than Core M, they could use another design because it is the exact copy of Apple MacBook.
In an event held in Taiwan, Asus introduced its next generation ZenFone series.
It is the basic model with 5.5-inch Full HD IPS+ display that has a brightness of 500 nits. As it is not the most powerful model, it has SnapDragon 625 but with a 4GB of RAM. On the back, there is a 16MP camera with ASUS TriTech autofocus and unergonomic finger print sensor.
ZenFone 3 Deluxe
In the ZenFone 3 family, ZenFone 3 Deluxe is the most powerful model with SnapDragon 820 and massive 6GB of RAM. It has a 5.7-inch Full HD display. Unlike other metal phones, there are no visible antenna lines. Again, as it is the flagship model, it has a 23 megapixel Sony IMX318 camera with an aperture of f2.0.
It also supports Quick Charging and has a USB Type-C port.
ZenFone 3 Ultra
This is neither the most powerful nor the least powerful model but the biggest one in the ZenFone 3 family. It has a huge 6.8-inch Full HD display. However, I must say something here. That is ridiculous to make a FullHD 6.8-inch display because PPI rate would be so low.
Even though it uses the same 23MP camera with the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, it has the same features with the regular model as it is powered by SnapDragon 625 and 4GB of RAM. One thing that is different in this model is the battery size. As it has a huge screen, it comes with a 4600mAh battery.
