This week, the spotlight was on newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note7 although there were some surprises.
Samsung announced Galaxy Note7, the newest Note series and Samsung’s most powerful phone yet.
To start with, Samsung Galaxy Note7 is basically a Note5 with dual curves on its display and curves on the back. Thanks to those curves on its 5.7-inch QHD display, Note7 is 2.2mm narrower than Note5.
When you look at its hardware, there is no difference at all. Note7 is powered by either SnapDragon 820 or Exynos 8890 ( depending on the region ) with 4GB of RAM. One thing to mention is that Note 7 has only one RAM option but Samsung may bring exclusive Note7s with 6GB RAM to China.
( Note7’s specs are given below )
- 5.7-inch QHD Dual Curved Display with 518 PPI
- SnapDragon 820 or Exynos 8890
- 4GB of RAM
- 64GB Main Storage
- 12MP f/1.7 rear camera & 5MP f/1.7 camera
- Water Proof
- USB Type-C
As Note series is all about S-Pen, Note7 equips a new pen which is two times more sensitive than the one in Note 5 ( 4,096 levels compared to 2,048 ). However, the best feature is not its sensitivity though. You can even use the new S-pen even under the water. Can you believe how cool is that?
Anyway, besides of the new waterproof S-Pen, the other unique feature is the new Iris Scanner. According to Samsung, iris scanner is more secure than using a finger print sensor.
Note 7 ( which costs more than Galaxy S7 Edge ) will be available on August 19 and the pre-orders will start as soon as tomorrow.
Right now, there are three MacBook models; Apple MacBook, MacBook Air and Pro. However, without any doubt, MacBook Air and Pro are stuck in the past while MacBook is one of the most futuristic ultrabooks that you can get right now. Even though we do not expect any changes in Air line, we knew that Apple would follow its new ideology ( that came with MacBook ) on the new MacBook Pro as well. Nevertheless, it looks like upcoming MacBook Pro will not as futuristic as we thought.
To sum up, most of the leaks about MacBook Pro 2016 is false. For example, it will not equip an OLED bar above its keyboard nor will it equip a Touch ID sensor. You should also not expect to see a lighting port either.
However, as far as we know, Apple will ( finally ) change MacBook Pro’s design ( I mean Apple didn’t update the MacBook Pro line for more than 450 days ) . Even though we cannot confirm, leaks says that upcoming Pro will be as thin as MacBook by ditching everything ( that the current one has ) but the 3.5mm headphone jack. This means there will be ( I mean probably ) few USB Type-Cs and one headphone jack. Also, did I forget to say that 2016 Pro will have the same keyboard as the MacBook. I can hear some of you crying in the corner.
We highly expect to see two new Nexus phones this year code named as Marlin and Sailfish. Today, we don’t have any comprehensive leak about the device itself but this maybe the Google’s new launcher which will be used on the upcoming Nexus devices.
Alleged Nexus Launcher will be based on Android 7.0 Nougat and the main changes ( at least, as far as we know ) will take place on the home screen.
As you can see above, there are few major changes. To start with, app drawer icon is gone. However, app drawer is still present but the way you access it is different. In order to open it, you need to swipe up from down.
Second major change is the Google search. Normally, you would see a white bar on the top but with Nexus Launcher, the bar is replaced with a button. If you swipe on the button from left to right, then you will see the Google Now. However, tapping the icon opens the same screen as tapping the previous search bar.
The one thing that is worth mentioning is that we know neither about other screens as well as about other apps nor about the use of the launcher. This is named as “Nexus Launcher” and it supposedly be used on the Marlin and Sailfish but there is no information about whether will this launcher replace the current Google Launcher or will it be something exclusive for the Nexus phones.
