New Megaupload is coming
Megaupload was a company owned by Kim Dotcom and established in 2005. From that day to 2011, it provided online service related to file storage. However, in 2012, it was closed as a result of police raid on the company’s operations.
Nevertheless, we knew that the service will be reopened after Kim Dotcom’s announcement in June of this year. Today, Kim Dotcom confirmed the new Megaupload as well as its functions.
Upcoming service will be called as Megaupload 2.0 and will have connections with the first version. For example, 2.0 will keep the database from 1.0. In terms of features, new Megaupload will offer free 100GB of storage and all the ability for users to sync their files to all of their devices. Also, as Kim Dotcom cares about privacy, all of the files in the database will be automatically encrypted.
However, Megaupload is not the only Kim Dotcom service that is coming. New service will focus on Bitcoins ( so that is why it is called as Bitcache ) and will be integrated into Megaupload. For example, the owners of frequently downloaded files will be able to earn money as Megaupload will be based on micro transactions of Bitcoins. However, the purpose of Bitcache is different than this. It aims to remove the current blockchain limitations of Bitcoin although we don’t know how.
