Be careful with the Jet Black iPhone 7

Apple iPhone 7

Be careful with the Jet Black iPhone 7

You have five color options with the new iPhone 7. You still have Silver, GoldĀ and RoseĀ Gold, but there are two new blacks instead of the old Space Grey. First there is “Black” and then, there is “Jet Black”.

Among these colors though, Jet Black is special as it is glossy instead of being matte like other color options. However, there might be a slight problem with this new gorgeous color…It scratches easier than other colors.

How do we know that? To start with, there were actually scratches on some Jet Black iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in the event when media was inspecting the devices. Second, Apple actually mentions this when you are looking for the color options of iPhone 7.

Here is what Apple says;

“The high-gloss finish of the Jet Black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.”

In other words, either be careful with your new glossy iPhone 7 or just use a case.
