LG is longer interested in making modular phones

With G5, LG had big plans for modular phones. But their attempts have failed. Neither G5 or the modular design became successful. That is why they are supposedly abandoning making modular phones.

LG G5 was a decent phone after all but it failed to reach high sale numbers. That is to blame the build quality. Many users reported quality problems related to the body of the phone as well as related to the removable bottom part.

You were getting modularity in favor of thinness as well. However, the modularity you were getting was not good enough. It has been over a year since LG released G5, and yet, we have only a number of accessories using the modularity of the G5. Nevertheless, those accessories are not cheap enough nor useful.

Because of these problems though, upcoming G6 will have a solid design without any support for modular “friend accessories”. Reported by Electronic Times, the company will start to make products according to users’ demands rather than being creative.
