During Paris AutoShow, Mercedes announced a new brand named as “Electric Intelligence” or shortly “EQ”. Under this name, we will not only see all-electric cars but also charging stations.
There is even a new car for the new brand. It is called “Generation EQ” and is an all-electric SUV with two electric motors one of which is located on the front axles and other one on the rear axles. As a result, car makes a total power of up to 300 kW which makes it possibly to reach 100 km/h or 62 mph in under five seconds.
The 70 kWh battery has a range of up to 310 miles or 500 kilometers, but keep in mind, that this number is based on NEDC standards which does not necessarily reflect the real-world range.
Having a support for fast-charging, you can charge the car in your house with a wall-charger or in places with wireless induction charging system.
The interior, on the other hand, is futuristic, but caries many of the characteristic elements of the current E and S class. Meaning, you get a huge displays for infotainment system although, in this case, you only got one huge screen instead of two.
Aside from that, it comes without any buttons as well as without mirrors. Instead, you have screens and cameras.
But don’t forget that it is just a concept. Even though Mercedes can choose to make a production version of Generation EQ, we don’t know anything about this subject yet.
