Nvidia GTX 1050 is here to overtake AMD RX 470
With this generation, Nvidia decided to start from the top and go down step by step. First, we saw the 1070 and the 1080. Then, one step down and we got the Nvidia 1060. Now, one more step and we are at the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti. They are Nvidia’s latest low-end graphics cards. 1050 costs $109 while the TI model costs $139. For $30, you double the RAM ( from 2GB to 4GB ) as well as increase the number of CUDA cores ( from 640 to 768 ).
According to Nvidia, new cards are able to run the games at 60 fps although the quality is not mentioned. Furthermore, there is no “VR Ready” label on the new cards, but the chances are the both 1050 and 1050 Ti will probably run the VR games with the Oculus’ new system requirements.
For comparison, AMD also provides the RX 470 with either 2 or 4GB of RAM.
New Nvidia GTX 1050 will be available on November 8th although it may also come before. On the other hand, the release date for its big brother is October 25th.
