Tesla has a new solar panel which doesn’t look like a solar panel at all
Today, Tesla held a press event at Universal Studios in LA. They announced new type of solar panels which integrates solar cells into different types of textured glass alongside with the updated version of the Powerwall.
Made out of glass, new Solar Panel is indistinguishable from the tradition roof tiles. Even though they are tempered preventing them to get damaged quickly, Elon Musk says those titles are transparent to the sun.
You have four choice with the new Solar Panel; Tuscan, Slate, Textured and Smooth Glass Tiles.
Futhermore, Tesla has a new power wall. Second generation is able to store 14 kWh of energy, with a 5 kW continuous power draw, and 7 kW peak. It doesn’t matter if you mount it inside or outside, and Tesla even provides warranty for unlimited power cycle up to 10 years.
Both of the products, announced today by Tesla, is a part of Elon Musk’s efforts to complete the solar energy solution which consists of three parts. First step is to generate energy from the sun lights, which can be done by Tesla’s new Solar Roof system. Second part is to store the generated energy, and Tesla’s new Powerwall system is responsible of this step. Lasts part is to transport it where electric cars step in.
Even though we have no information about Solar Roof’s price, Tesla said that Powerwall 2 will cost $5,500.
