GoPro is recalling Karma
This week was not the best one. First of all, there was the US elections, and Donald Trump became the new president of the US. Then, GoPro announced that they are recalling the Karma, their first drone.
Recall involves every sold Karma unit since October 23rd, which is about 2,500 units. GoPro says that in under some circumstances, the drone might lose its power. However, it is important say that no reports of injuries have been reported so far.
Karma units can be returned either to GoPro itself or to the place wherever they are purchased from. Nevertheless, GoPro is only offering full-refunds for now. As GoPro didn’t solve the issue, they are not offering an exchange for a fixed model.
Even though it is nice that GoPro is offering a full-refund for the returned drones, this recall will affect the company. They were not doing great in anyways, and they thought that entering in new markets may save them. However, it did not. Their most serious competitor in the drone market, DJI, also has a portable drone, which, at least as far as we know, is doing better than the Karma.
