Uber App Redesign ( Snapchat )

Uber redesigned its app to make your trip more than just a ride

Since 2012, we have not seen any major change on the Uber app, at least until today. After making changes to their logos back in February, Uber announced a redesign for its mobile app, not just for the drivers, but for the riders as well.

Uber App Redesign

New app is faster, but more importantly easier to use. In the recent years, Uber added many features to its platform, but at some point, all those features started to make the app complicated. Now, everything seems cleaner.

When you open the app, you see your location and the Uber cars around you, just like the old version. However, number of the buttons on the main screen is decreased. In order to choice where do you want to go, you can either write your destination on the bar located upper side of the display or choose one of your favorite destinations with only one click from the bottom part. After you choose the location, Uber then asks you which type of car you want to order. There are also some chances with different types of car. In the older versions, there were many options and you had to scroll horizontally to choice them. Now, they are categorized in few sections. For example, UberPool and UberX is now under a category called “Economy” while Select and Black can be seen in a category named “Premium” located near the Economy.

Nevertheless, the new app shows that Uber wants to be more than just a service carrying people from a to b. That is why they announced UberEats in the past, and Uber Feed now. Uber Feed is a screen which changes according to your destination. For example, if you are heading to a restaurant, you will be shown Yelp reviews for that place. Moreover, from the new feed, you can see which Pandora station is playing in the car, or even order a food on your way to your home.

Even though the app is being started to roll out starting today to iOS and Android, it won’t be until the end of the year to see and use the feed.
