BMW announced M550i xDrive

BMW continues to enrich the new generation 5 Series. This move is far beyond than just an innovation.

The new generation of the 5 Series, which BMW announced in the first half of October, continues to evolve with new and powerful options. The seventh generation 5 series, based on BMW’s next-generation platform, the CLAR architecture and offered in lighter, more luxurious and technologically advanced body, has now its fastest car before the next generation M5. The M550i xDrive, the fastest 5-Series variant ever produced by BMW, is also highly ambitious with its features.

Announced in few days ago, BMW’s new M performance parts give BMW 550i xDrive much more sporty and aerodynamic structure while the M package spoiler, side mirrors, sporty exhaust, large air vents and rims make the car look more muscular. Inside the vehicle, it is also possible to see an air suitable for the exterior design characteristic. The M-pack includes a special steering wheel, aluminum pedals and ergonomic multi-contour sport seats. In addition to the driving performance of BMW’s new generation 550i xDrive, BMW also offers a comfortable ride on long journeys.

The most important and striking features of the 2017 550i xDrive lay under the hood and in technical values. The car comes with a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine modified by M-Performance with two turbochargers in a twin-scrool construction. However, this engine is combined with a high-precision injection system, BMW’s variable valve timing system Valvetronic and with two Vanos. Together with these systems, the BMW M550i xDrive can reach from 0 to 100 in less than 4 seconds thanks to a total of 456 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. This makes the 2017 BMW M550i xDrive the fastest 5-Series model produced outside of the M-series. The 2017 BMW M550i xDrive is combined with the eight-speed Sport Steptronic automatic transmission.

The engine that has such a gentle power is also as vital as the value of the motor at least. The 550i xDrive, which has four-wheel drive infrastructure, offers an adaptive M suspension system to optimize this process and the vehicle is available in Sport and Sport + modes that makes the car  10mm lower.
