Microsoft acquires LinkedIn

LinkedIn, which is one of the important platforms of the business world and has gained a serious impetus in the international platform, will now be included in Microsoft. Even though this acquisition was reported back in June, it was alleged that there were some obstacles that might arise after the purchase attempt. However, the purchase process was reportedly approved by the EU Commission.

The approval of purchase came today. The figure for the purchase is not different than the number reported in June. According to both of the companies, Microsoft is paying $ 26.2 billion in total which is $ 196 per share in cash for Linkedin. Thus, the amount Microsoft agrees to pay to buy Linkedin is 91 times higher than Linkedin’s Tax Depreciation Interest (EBITDA).

Nevertheless, EU Commision requires that even after the acquisition other computer manufacturers should and can benefit from the service. So Microsoft will not have a full monopoly on LinkedIn . In this regard, the EU Commission reported that freedom of the service should not be left out of hand. As a result, Microsoft agreed to make the purchase with this requirement.

The final result with the completion of the expected process after the agreement made in June will end with the official announcement of the sale in the coming days. LinkedIn, which Microsoft has for the purchase deal, is waiting for a new process after that. The giant platform that makes up the communications network of half a billion people around the world is predicted to be stronger within Microsoft. Of course, the advantages it may bring to Microsoft will also be great. It is possible to see different applications for Linkedln in new updates of Windows.

However, the investigation of the purchase of two US firms, LinkedIn and Microsoft, by the EU Commission could not be understood by some circles. But, it should be known that the EU Commission is in charge of supervising because of the inconsistency of the competition in high-cost purchases. The EU Commission, which has this mandate, has conducted inspections not only for this agreement but also for many similar agreements in the past. It will also play a big role in similar purchases in the future.
