How many people can fit in Model S?
If you have already had the chance to travel with the Model S before, you have noticed the width of the interior. In automobiles with internal combustion engines, the internal volume of the car is decreasing due to the volume of parts such as gearbox, engine and driveline. In Tesla, the situation is somewhat different.
For example, the 1977 Lincoln Mark V, despite its 5,850 mm length and 2-meter width, was not wide enough for a car’s interior to comfortably accommodate a family of four. It also had a 7.5-liter V8 at the front and an almost oversized luggage.
In the years that we have left behind, this is going well, but designers are still struggling to balance the design and volume. Tesla seems to have achieved this balance very successfully.
Since the Model S works with electricity, it allows designers to get out of the lines that have been around for years. The car’s chassis holds the suspension, the batteries and the motors, while the upper part is mounted on this base.
The Tesla Model S can be hosted for up to 7 people, but how many people can fit in the car if we want to push the boundaries? Carl Reese, who had more than one Guinness record, thought he could answer this question, and he managed to fit 19 people, including his family and friends in Model S.
The car that holds this record is Mini though. Contrary to its outside dimensions, the automobile had a total of 26 people in record test.
