Samsung has new “QLED” TVs

In CES 2017, Samsung introduced the QLED TV series, which, so far, includes three models, Q9, Q8 and Q7. According to the company, 2017 QLED TVs represent a very different breakthrough.

The new product line displays a stunning improvement in color performance by accurately displaying the DCI-P3 color gamut. In other words, Samsung underscores that it has succeeded in regenerating 100 percent of color saturation with QLED TVs by performing a province. Thus all colors can be displayed at all brightness levels and even the finest details can be noticed in the range of 1500-2000 nit, the highest gloss level of QLED.

Color volume basically refers to the colors that can be displayed at different brightness levels. For example, a leaf can be detected in different colors between yellowish green and turquoise, depending on the brightness of the light. The Samsung QLED TV screen can capture even the slightest color differences caused by brightness. Such color details can not be displayed at this quality in traditional 2D color space models.

Samsung has begun to use metal Quantum Dot as a new material, capturing excellence in image as their new technology reflects much more detail than traditional TVs, enabling a dramatically improved color gamut.

The new Quantum Dots allow Samsung QLED TV to deliver dark blacks and rich details regardless of how light or dark the scene is or whether the content is viewed in a light or dark room. In addition, Samsung QLED TV can produce a high brightness of 1,500 to 2,000 nits without damaging the ability to deliver accurate and perfect color. Thanks to the metal-alloy Quantum Dot technology, the brightness need not be fed to improve color performance. At the same time, the brightness can be maintained no matter how wide the viewing angle is.

Dave Das, Senior Vice President of Consumer Electronics Marketing, Samsung Electronics, noted that with the next-generation QLED TVs, they’ve solved problems such as cable dismay, thick wall hangers, and a lot of devices lying beneath every TV. “With our 2017 product group, our focus is on the screen and the content inside it, not just on the landscape,” Das added.

All of the peripheral devices can be connected to the TV through a single transparent ‘Invisible Connection’ cable that is included in the design and usability of the QLED TV series. In addition, “zero-spacing wall mount” allows the TV to be wall mounted quickly and easily. For those who prefer not to mount the wall on the TV, Samsung offers two new legs that lift the QLED TVs and display it as a beautiful home accessory by itself. Consumers can opt for the ‘Studio Stand’, which resembles a picture chisel, or the stylish ‘Gravity Stand’, which resembles a contemporary sculpture when connected to TV.

In 2017, Samsung focuses on delivering a unique and unified user experience that enables the transformation of the highly acclaimed Smart TV product and enables people to access all entertainment content, where and when they want it. For example, with the Samsung Smart Remote, consumers can control most of their connected TV devices from a single source and a single device.

This year, the ‘Smart Hub’ interface has been expanded to include smartphones through Samsung’s new and improved ‘Smart View’ application. Thus, all the content available on the main screen of the application can be displayed in a comprehensive manner. Consumers can also use their mobile devices to select and watch their favorite live TV programs and video-on-demand services via ‘Smart View’ mobile app on their TVs. Consumers can also choose to receive messages on their mobile devices about their showtime and availability of their favorite content.

Samsung also introduced two new Smart TV services and many other features, including a “Sports” showing the customer’s sports team and a special summary of their past and future matches, and “Music” recognizing the songs as they were played live on TV.

HyunSuk Kim, Head of Display Division, Samsung Electronics, said, “2017 Display Units will be in a major paradigm shift and launch QLED period. With QLED TV’s output, we reflect the colors of real life on the screen. We removed all the roughness that affected the viewing experience and redefined it to present TV in the most perfect way.”
