Nokia 6

Nokia’s new Android phones are boring

As expected, HMD Global has presented three smart phones under the Nokia brand at the world’s largest mobile fair. The Nokia 6 was known from China and now comes worldwide. New models are the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. The target group are price-conscious users.

Nokia 6 is the most powerful version

The Nokia 6 is already known as it was presented at the beginning of 2017 for the Chinese market. In the MWC 2017, HMD Global has announced the global sale of its smartphone. The Nokia 6 has a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels as well as a Snapdragon 430 from Qualcomm, which reaches a maximum clock rate of 1.4 GHz.

In addition, the phone comes with 4 GB of memory and 64 GB of main storage. The camera on the back has 16 megapixels, the front camera has 8 megapixels. On the front is a fingerprint sensor installed on the Homebutton. The Nokia 6 supports Cat4-LTE, whether there will be a version with the tapes 3, 7 and 20 for Europe is not known. The battery has a nominal charge of 3,000 mAh. The Nokia 6 comes also in a black Limited Edition in the trade.

Nokia 5

Nokia 5 has weaker features than the Nokia 6

The new Nokia 5 is smaller and comes with slightly weaker hardware: the display has a size of 5.2 inches in the diagonal and has a resolution of 1.280 x 720 pixels. As a processor, it uses the same the Snapdragon 430 from the 6, but the memory is only 2 GB. The built-in flash memory has a size of 16 GB and a slot for micro SD cards is built-in.

The main camera on the back has 13 megapixels, the front camera 8 megapixels. The Nokia 5 supports Cat4-LTE, also on the frequencies 3, 7 and 20, which are important in Europe. The WLAN frequencies are not shown in the data sheet. The battery has a nominal charge of 3,000 mAh.

Nokia 3

Nokia 3 is in the entry level

The Nokia 3 is technically in the beginner area. The display is 5 inches in size, the resolution is 1.280 x 720 pixels. Inside, Mediatek’s MTK6737, a quad-core processor with a maximum clock rate of 1.3 GHz, is used. The memory is 2 GB and the built-in flash memory is 16 GB. There is a slot for memory cards.

The main camera of the Nokia 3 is 8 megapixels, so is the front camera. The device also masters Cat4-LTE on frequencies 3, 7 and 20. The battery has 2.650 mAh.

All three smartphones come with Android 7, but interestingly, Nokia 5 has the latest version which is 7.1.1. The user interface is unchanged, users get a pure Android. In addition, the Google Assistant should be installed on all three devices.

The Nokia 6 is to cost $315, for the black special edition HMD Global wants to have 300 euros. The Nokia 5 is to cost $200, and  the Nokia 3 is at $150 the cheapest. All smartphones will be available during the second quarter of 2017.
