Samsung Galaxy S8 | Bixby

You can’t remap the bixby button on S8

Samsung has announced its new virtual assistant Bixby with the Galaxy S8. Samsung’s new assistant offers advanced features, but is not completed yet. It is known that even when the Galaxy S8 will be driven into the market, it will lack the voice commend feature. However, as far as looks are concerned, Samsung is determined to use this assistant.

When the Samsung Galaxy S8 was first introduced and the first devices started to be distributed, it was said that the users were able to customize the dedicated key for Bixby. When you press the button on the left side of the phone, you can activate Google Now or open a desired application. This situation has been welcomed by the user quite positively and Samsung has appreciated that it is free to use the key freely. However, that is no longer the case.

With Samsung’s software update, Bixby’s key can no longer be customized. So when this key is pressed, there is no access to a different assistant or application other than Bixby. It also states that Bixby can not be turned off completely and is activated each time the key is pressed. It is annoying that there is such a restriction on a flagship model like the Samsung Galaxy S8. Samsung could have been better at transitioning at least until Bixby’s development stage was a little more completed in this regard. We will all see if Samsung will step back in the future.
