Pinterest is not a social network

Pinterest is not a social network

Although Pinterest has more than 150 million users and has the power to buy services such as Instapaper, it has never performed advertising campaigns before. But this will change as of next summer. The company will launch its first advertising campaign in the US. The platform where users can create and share collections, or discover other collections, will tell the ad campaign what they “don’t do “.

CEO Ben Silbermann said that his primary goal is to “convince people that it is not a social network of services.”, by adding that “Service is a platform where people can get vacation ideas, fashion tips, technological device information, in short, a platform where they can get ideas about real life.”

In the statement made from the company, no detailed information was given about the advertising campaign. However, it was stated that the campaign would focus on people who chose to stop dreaming about their lives and design their lives. This campaign will deliberately be removed from social networks such as Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter. But at this point, the name of social networks will not be mentioned explicitly.

Regardless of the format, publicity and advertising work seems necessary for the company. Silbermann is aware of the fact that the company is small compared to social networks like Facebook, and they are aware that they need to move fast to survive. The fact that Facebook recently started offering the opportunity to create collections on Instagram shows that the advertising campaign for Pinterest and intense promotion time are well on its way.
