Google is making the search results more personal

Google has added a new tab to the search results page named “Personal.” This page, which is not yet available to all users, shows content from personal sources such as the Gmail account and the Google Photos library. The first to notice this new tab is the Search Engine Roundtable site.

The personal tab works in the same way as current Maps, News, or Photos tabs work. Instead of showing links to the user, it is¬†showing content that’s related to the search term and is in Google’s users’ accounts.

The personal tab does not automatically appear in front of users. You need to click on “More” in the results page first. At the bottom of the menu that opens is the Personal option. It is believed that Google has gradually rolled out its feature.

Users who see their personal tab can access both the desktop and the mobile content on this tab. The company¬†has yet to disclose the subject. While it is a serious convenience that access to personal content through search results is facilitated, it is also likely that some users’ privacy concerns will increase.
