Unprecedented rise of smart home assistants
The smart home assistant market, formed by Amazon Echo and Google Home, is growing at a fast pace in the US. According to research firm eMarketer, there are 35.6 million people in the US who have smart assistants at home. That’s twice the figure of last year.
The increase in the number of users of these platforms working with artificial intelligence is of great importance for the artificial intelligence to develop itself. More users means more data flow for artificial intelligence to learn better. In addition, as the number of users increases, the platform becomes, like Microsoft’s Windows, the dominant one for artificial intelligence.
Amazon does not provide information on Echo’s sales figures but it is known that finding a product in the company’s store is a big problem and customers who want to buy Echo sometimes have to wait for new party items to arrive.
With the commission from both device sales and orders placed through these devices, Amazon has created a huge revenue door. According to research by RBC Capital Markets, Amazon is expected to earn $ 10 billion from the only Alexa artificial intelligence platform in 2020.
Google’s Home product is quickly approaching its rival, Echo. Google Home is estimated to be close to 80% of Echo’s brand awareness in the US. This year’s market is also expected to be home to powerful brands, including Apple’s Siri-based and Microsoft’s Cortana-based smart home assistants. As a result, the number of smart home users at home will exceed 60 million.
